The Crane Wife
Church members in Oklahoma City were raising their brand new steeple to the heights of their majestic church when the crane hoisting it collapsed and the monument came crashing down upon a 79 year old man who was watching the event from the safety of his automobile. As the spire headed toward he man’s vehicle he was heard to yell “holy shit” but his prayer was not heard in time as he was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s 78 year old wife was also in the car and was transported to a nearby hospital in good condition. The Grace Assembly of God Pastor Joe Hancock said the couple was long time church members.
The Lord works in mysterious ways as a lifelong devotee’s spirit was taken by the very church where he worshiped and by an object of grandiose that he no doubt helped pay for when that gimme plate was passed around each Sunday. Not to mention the fact that this “God has a plan” event happened in front of his congregation and beside his own loving wife for Christ’s sake! She will now be attending a new church with a more humble roof….alone. Oh that god does have a sense of humor toward his braying flock.
When reached for comment the Lord shrugged and said, “Eh, it was his time.”
Winfred Stafford was 79, his car was a 98.
