Cheeseburger "Coming Home" Ah the theme song from the cult classic TV show "Super Jail." Cheeseburger is a little known band who blew up big when 30 seconds of thing song launched the new Adult Swim series and had fanboys everywhere clamoring to find the MP3. Finally available via iTunes or pirate style, a warning song about how the world has gone crazy anywhere you go. Rock
Mims "Move If You Wanna" Yes, we will give props when due to this radio runaway hit but damn if'n it doesn't make you wanna....groove? Hip Hop
P.O.S. "De La Souls" The best and most underrated Hip Hop artist today is so creative T-Pain should be taking notes. Intellectual and well crafted rhymes on life and lessons learned. "No one will ever be like me!" Hip Hop
Silversun Pickups "Panic Switch" The newest effort from the oddball rock outfit with enough psychedelia to be interesting and vocals from a man who sounds like a woman who rocks! Rock
Single File "Mannequin Loveseat" Bubblegum punk (?) has always been a weakness for me and this little self-love song spouting "I'm always a pleasure to be with and the pleasure's always mine. I'm sad about girls- pretty things just out of reach." Rock
Katie Herzig "Wish You Well" The angel voiced lady is getting over that sad heartbreak. "I'll find my way, because you showed me how." Forgive and forget if you can. Pop
Laura Marling "Ghosts" Laura lady doesn't get the lovesick vibe and implores you to move on singing, "Lover please do not, fall on your knees, its not, like I believe in, everlasting love." Pop
Those Dancing Days "Hitten" A band I am shocked I enjoy with its catchy riffs and lyrics, "I wanna know what I'm thinking what I'm feeling, what I want my life to be. I wanna know how I plan to make things easier, for everyone but me." Agreed. Pop
Manchester Orchestra "Shake It Out" Finally some rock in this pop Snob attack. The Orchestra which is not an orchestra thunders through this track and giving us hope rock isn't dead. Rock
Augie March "One Crowded Hour" Here's a ditty from a group I doubt you have hear of wincing a ballad, "For one, crowded hour you were only one in the room. I thought I'd found my golden September in the middle part of June." Tender but not syrupy you should hunt for. Rock
White Rabbits "Percussion Gun" Drums and piano simply dominate this song as it builds to a soft climax. Original in a world of the Shinedown's that dominate the airwaves. Rock
Sholi "Nov.-June" Modest Mouse comparisons aren't fair for this unknown act that is far better. "This is for myself, this is not for you. " Rock
Allison Moorer & Steve Earle "Days Aren't Long Enough" The country favorite teams with the "hardcore troubadour" (whatever that is about) on this sun is going down on summer song. Country
Clutch "Rising Sons" Perennial favorite Beale St. boys return with a B-Sides album that is nothing but A-list rock n rolla! "Gravity is such a drag and we will not obey." I dare you to find a more original and off the wall band that kicks this much ass. Best track but all 16 tracks are keepers. Rock
Guns N Roses "Shackler's Revenge" Yes, you cannot be more shocked than I, who have never been a GNR fan. 10 years in the making created a decent CD, but not amazing. Still, who doesn't love an Axel Rose screaming to the point you expect him to vomit, on this, the most rocking track on the disc. It also makes me do the Axel shuffle. Rock
311 "Hey You" No I'm not 13 years old, and yes I like 311. The rap/rock band has grown up over the years and if you missed their last album "Evolver," you missed their very best album to date! Back with "Uplifter" a hit and miss CD, the boys pay tribute to music in the general sense for all its life saving and mood enhancing abilities. Good schtuff without the rap. Rock
Blitzen Trapper "God & Suicide" Ahh, the forest rockers return with another great track as they blow past fellow hippies and friends Fleet Foxes. More rockin' than their buds and more interesting though both bands are good. Rock
Street Dogs "Fighter" "State Of Grace" is the newest CD from the former Dropkick Murphy's singer but this track is from "Savin' Hill." Not old enough to be a vault classic, still a damn good tribute song to a hero of old. Punk
Green Day "Peacemaker" Everyone knows GD are back with another rock opera that isn't as good as "American Idiot" but its always had to follow a classic and they at least come close. Lots of good stuff but this is the most inventive for the "one trick pony" as lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong has said. This is a great track and doesn't get as much attention as "Horseshoe's and Hand Grenades" or "Know Your Enemy".......yet. Punk
Vault Classic: The Violent Femmes "Used To Be Happy" The VC is a track from back in the day you may have missed but should not. For all the amazing music from the Violent Femmes over the many years, I'd hope you have not overlooked this sad sack classic. You can pretty much download anything they have ever done and be happy, but this is a personal favorite. Rock
Avoid Like The Plague: Anything you hear from Hollywood Undead. Um, didn't we already do the whole Limp Bizkit/Linkin Park thing? Lets just move on. Kanye West, you sir are a one hit wonder and can thank Jaime Foxx's impersonation of Ray Charles for that. Black Eyed Peas are dominating the charts with their new single "Boom Boom Pow." Are you people serious? This is some of the worst shit I have heard since Sheryl Crow teamed up with Kid Rock. Lady GaGa, mute the video and enjoy. Music Snob shall return!
