Remembering Greg Giraldo

Greg Giraldo (December 10, 1965 – September 29, 2010) was an American stand-up comedian, television personality, insult comic and former lawyer. He was best known for his appearances on Comedy Central's roast specials, as well as for his work on the television shows Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, Lewis Black's Root of All Evil, Last Comic Standing, and Stand-Up Nation, which Giraldo hosted.

On September 25, 2010, Giraldo overdosed on prescription medication. After he failed to appear for a scheduled performance at the Stress Factory, police officers found him in his hotel room at the Hyatt Hotel in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and rushed him to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in that town. TMZ reported that he had been in a coma for five days when his family decided to remove life support.

Greg Giraldo was one of my utmost favorite comedians who combined a brilliant intellect with sharp and brutal humor. Greg was currently developing his own show for Comedy Central who had also published his two Stand Up Cd's "Good Day To Cross A River ('06) and "Midlife Vices" ('09) which were both excellent and far beyond what most comics do today.

Greg will truly be missed as a brilliant entertainer who died too soon and left us with the stylings of Larry The Cable guy who will undoubtedly live to 100. I wonder what joke Greg would crack now about his own death in order to make us feel better?

Thank you Greg for all the laughs.- ImpOp
