Its a funny, funny world when Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is complaining about the speech of others. Schwartzy has singled out Mexicans in America claiming that they don't speak English well enough. Yah, your talking make me angry, and I vant to cwush yo ignoance! The man cannot even properly pronounce the name of the state of which he is the governor for christ's sake! Its irony at its finest, and only found in politics that focus on the important issues.
Arnold said, "learn the language, learn the history of America, and you have to become a part of America. And that is very difficult for some people to do, especially, I think, for Mexicans, because they are so close to their country here, so they try to stay Mexican but live in America." So not speaking a new language fluently, means you are trying to stay Mexican? Its not racism, its just that Mexicans are wrong for wanting to retain their native tongue.
God forbid, people in America try to learn Spanish and adopt a second language themselves. That would require effort, not to mention this country has always been English speaking. You know, once we exterminated the ignorant natives.
It will never hurt anyone to learn something new, especially if it brings a certain connection, or commonality between groups. Someday, maybe it will all evolve into one language the entire world could understand.
Anywho, the whole thing is irrelevant as businesses will or will not adopt Spanish speaking options for customers, and people will or will not be open to a medley of languages. It will solve itself in the end. My real problem is this is not something to look at for upcoming elections or a topic politicians should be debating. Fix the whole war problem, deficit, economy, that whole starving and homeless thing, and disease and then we'll talk about how to speak of your accomplishments aloud.
Oh, and Arnold, you telling people how to speak, is like John Denver trying to tell your wife's family how to fly a plane. -Imperious Opinion
